UPDATE on June 9th, 2012 Hobo Gathering...

New postby El Ron » Thu Apr 26, 2012 3:39 pm

They say that California knows how to party but hell, we here in New Jersey can hold our own on the party scene as well, maybe even do it better. Ha. This upcoming special event on June 9th, the Summer Hobo Gathering Get Together, will bring on some great music, joyous laughter, new friendships forged and some most sweet memories that will be cherished. Starting time for event has been moved to 1:30 P.M. for guest arrival. So have a hearty lunch and head over to the Gathering. Supporting the day’s music activities will be Geoff Doubleday, the Fee Acoustic Duo (Gerard & Joe from Scarecrow Collection) and Mike June & the Wilson Street Refugees. Then on to the MAIN EVENT, for the first time ever, 2 blazing sets from the T.S. Combo (featuring Todd Sheaffer from Railroad Earth & From Good Homes, Andrew Altman from Railroad Earth & David Butler on drums from American Babies). Like I previously posted in the past, this Hobo family is truly something special and this is just one of the many things that we do that make it so. If you haven’t done so yet, I suggest you get on it and secure your reservations now to attend (http://thornbranch-efbevent.eventbrite.com), once it’s closed, that will be that. Looking forward to seeing a lot of you there as we gather in the sunshine and enjoy a great day/evening together.

A bit about the supporting acts-
Geoff Doubleday- is a newcomer to the Jersey music scene. But don’t let his age fool you. The kid definitely knows how to play guitar and sing. Geoff was the winner of Railroad Earth’s First Annual Thanksgiving Talent Contest in Stroudsburg, PA last year. Here is a video of him performing “Goat” in front of the judging panel. http://youtu.be/uzx-Y9lZF8E

Fee Acoustic Duo- Better known as members of the New Jersey based band Scarecrow Collection. Their acoustic styling’s on the guitars are sure to bring lots of smiles in the afternoon. They have recently launched an app available for iPhone and Droid. Check it out here and listen to some of their recent songs. http://scarecrowcollection.mobapp.at/

Mike June & the Wilson Street Refugees- this Austin, TX based (formerly residents of the NJ based music scene) band have surprised the hell out of me. Their debut CD which was just released a little while ago just caught my ear and has been in my rotation of music that I listen to daily. Strong singing and songwriting, this band is definitely one that will need to be watched and listened to over the next few months as they grow into a formidable force on this scene. Here is a video (http://youtu.be/eGRH3bhEmJE) of the making of their new album as well as a download (http://rawair.com/mikejune/) of their recent CD release Mexicali show.

Much love to all of you,

El Ron

June 9th UPDATES! Hobo Gathering!

New postby El Ron » Fri Jun 08, 2012 10:06 am

From Barbara Reich:

Wrote: "So very psyched about the Hobo Summer Gathering at Thornbranch tomorrow. I have great news for those of you who will not be joining us physically. We're broadcasting live on http://www.facebook.com/l/EAQGO8kjw/www.HGRNJ.org starting at 2:00 pm. Updates to follow with more details."

From Thornbranch & Running Smooth-

“Just a reminder that it starts at 2:00 P.M. EST. So for those out west, wake up, make those mimosas and blood mary's and tune in. On behalf of Thornbranch and Running Smooth, we would like to thank Johnny, Barb, Todd Mills and Homegrown Radio for making this happen so the folks outside of the area can at least listen to this special Hobo Gathering of 2012. We are all connected as a family.”

“Folks, a live stream can only capture so much at events such as this. Of course, it is better to be there physically if you can make it where you can feel the energy of the crowd, taste all the wonderful foods that will be served and experience the warmth of the Hobo Family. There are some last minute tickets still available for those that are still on the fence about attending. Please go to http://thornbranch.eventbrite.com/ to get them.”
